Can be used every day as it has a food safe oil coating. If you want it just to look pretty on your worktop or wall, please let me know and I will put a few coats of varnish on it, so it doesn't become a dust magnet, but bear in mind you will not be able to use it for your cooking after this process is done. The designs are hand drawn and pyrographed into the wood so will have a long life. It's usually a good idea to give wooden kitchen utensils a coat of oil every once in a while to stop the wood completely drying out. I would recommend coconut oil. I am a soul that has many dips in life, some so bad I often wonder how I came back. At one time life was so dark and bleak I didn't ever think I'd climb out. I was born of the age when you didn't show or respond, and today when I look back I so wish I'd said my piece. I shouldn't look back, because I'm not going that way. But thanks to a daily little white pill and my artwork, I manage to get through. It's always good for me to loose my self in art or my garden. Please take time before you start work to check the area carefully for hedgehogs and other wildlife to avoid killing or injuring anything. Thank you. Wherever possible, I like to recycle. There's nothing more satisfying than giving an old, tired piece a new lease of life. In these pictures you will see the whole process after sanding. This particular piece is a 16 inch square side table. Once the "sandman" has worked his magic, I can begin transferring the image. I have chosen a theme of fantasy. Once the transfer is complete, I then have to decide which pyro tips I want to use. With the intricate bits done, it's time to burn the surface. It's time consuming, but I find it very therapeutic. Then decide... To paint or not to paint!! It's hard to tell from the pictures, but I have chosen mainly metallic colours, and will be adding more coats in places, to solidify the colours. I am thoroughly enjoying this imaginative piece, though it's taking it's own sweet time to come together, with all the other things I have to do. I have my ideas firmly in place for the legs.
