If you want to own an original painting of Jersey at very reasonable rates look no further. As many of you will know, Mary was a primary school teacher specialising in arts and crafts. She painted in watercolour, oils and acrylics, and could often be seen painting around the island's coastlines, as well as being an accomplished needlewoman, as can be seen in a couple of the pictures. She was a member of the JSA until age and disability caught up with her. Do come along and support her work, take a piece of original Jersey artwork home with you. Wherever possible, I like to recycle. There's nothing more satisfying than giving an old, tired piece a new lease of life. In these pictures you will see the whole process after sanding. This particular piece is a 16 inch square side table. Once the "sandman" has worked his magic, I can begin transferring the image. I have chosen a theme of fantasy. Once the transfer is complete, I then have to decide which pyro tips I want to use. With the intricate bits done, it's time to burn the surface. It's time consuming, but I find it very therapeutic. Then decide... To paint or not to paint!! It's hard to tell from the pictures, but I have chosen mainly metallic colours, and will be adding more coats in places, to solidify the colours. I am thoroughly enjoying this imaginative piece, though it's taking it's own sweet time to come together, with all the other things I have to do. I have my ideas firmly in place for the legs.
