Based on the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots.  It's the spellbinding story of one unit of local firefighters that through hope, determination, sacrifice, and the drive to protect families, communities, wildlife and land, whose heroics lead them to brotherhood and ultimate sacrifice.

Headed up by an impressive stellar cast, this fact bases film is a no frills drama from the outset, that truly honours the real life firefighting heroes.  It's a visually superb, surreal film, that is an emotionally shattering roller coaster of an encounter with a tragic real life story.  I was left in tears, wanting a totally different, more acceptable ending!

You definitely don't need the premise explained, you understand the risks these men are taking without question.  They are everyday, working class heroes.  For me, I think it's the best firefighting film I've seen since "Backdraft", another film that pays tribute to the brave men (okay... and women!) who sacrifice their own lives, to save the many.
